"As long as I'm at Nottingham Forest, no club will take our players without our consent" - Marinakis on Gibbs-White
The midfielder was on the verge of joining Tottenham this summer, but the deal fell through after an illegal approach.
Nottingham Forest pulled off a coup, securing Morgan Gibbs-White's services until the summer of 2028 despite strong interest from Tottenham.
What Marinakis said
Following the announcement, Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis gave an insightful interview regarding the contract extension, as reported by Sportal.
"We're thrilled about this. We share the same ambitions and dreams, and he's a tremendously talented footballer. He loves Nottingham Forest and has already become a club legend.
"We want to send a message to our supporters, and indeed to fans of other clubs in England and Europe, that legends must be treated accordingly."
"As long as I'm at the helm of Nottingham Forest, this is how things will be handled, in the right way. I won't let any other club try to poach our players or do anything we don't agree with."
"Especially, as I said, with players who are part of our family. With Morgan, it didn't take long to reach an agreement. The discussion was short, full of passion and love for the club.
"When there's passion, when you love something, it's a matter of seconds to agree. All our fans should know that Gibbs-White loves this club," Marinakis emphasised.
