The Super Eagles will play against Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea in Group A of AFCON 2023 alongside the hosts, Ivory Coast which necessitated the Guinea friendly.

There's a debut for goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali as well as Alhassan Yusuf who replaced Wilfred Ndidi in the squad due to an injury.
