Arsenal are looking to bolster their squad ahead of next season, and they have reportedly identified Girona winger Viktor Tsygankov as an ideal option.
The Gunners have finished second in the Premier League in consecutive seasons, narrowly missing out on glory, and they are said to have identified their insufficient squad depth as a hindrance in their bid to finally depose Manchester City, who have finished first in those two seasons and the two before that.
Arsenal want Tsygankov
According to Spanish publication AS, the Gunners have identified the Ukrainian international, Tsygankov, who was integral in Girona’s historic charge up the LALIGA table, which saw them finish third and qualify for their first-ever Champions League.
Tsygankov plays predominantly as a right-winger but can also play on the opposite flank or through the middle, which makes him an ideal option, as Arteta is said to desire versatile players, as seen in the utility of Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz.
The 26-year-old joined the Catalan side in the winter transfer window of the 2022/23 season for a reported €5.00 million from Dynamo Kyiv. However, his performances in those one-and-a-half seasons at the club have seen his value shoot up to a quoted €30 million.
The Ukrainian was one of the top playmakers in the Spanish top-flight this recently-concluded season, with seven assists. He scored eight goals as well, which sums up to 15 goals contributions. Only Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard have more for Arsenal in the league this season.
