Arne Slot, the incoming Liverpool boss, will reportedly have a different role with the Reds compared to Jurgen Klopp's current position.
Slot's Role at Liverpool
According to the Times, Slot will take over as head coach of Liverpool, unlike Klopp, who held the position of manager. As head coach, Slot will be responsible for overseeing the club's on-field activities, focusing on coaching and preparing Liverpool’s first team.
He will work directly with sporting director Richard Hughes, who will manage recruitment and other aspects of the football department. The duo will operate under the guidance of Michael Edwards, the club's new Chief Executive of Football.
Comparison with Klopp's Role
While Klopp managed both on-field activities and had a significant say in recruitment, Slot's role will primarily focus on coaching. Slot is reportedly comfortable with this arrangement, as Feyenoord, his current club, also operates with a head coach and sporting director system.
It is expected that Liverpool will officially confirm Slot's appointment in the next few days, following an agreed compensation deal worth up to £9.4 million ($12m) with Feyenoord. However, personal terms between Slot and Liverpool are yet to be finalized before the move can be officially announced.
