'Amorim has no excuses, results are needed' - Rooney says Man United boss must deliver
The team disappointed again over the weekend, failing to secure a win against Fulham, having played a 1-1 draw.
Following the draw, Amorim has come under criticism from fans and legends after the club's summer spending spree.
Rooney says Amorim must start winning
Speaking to the BBC, via Sportal, Rooney said, "Is Amorim still the right man? It's difficult to sit here and say, 'Yes, 100%.' I don't think anyone could say that. I don't even think Amorim himself could say that, considering what we've seen since he's been at the club.
"But I think the summer signings have been good. I'd still like to see another two or three players come in, but it's hard to say, 'Yes, this will be our manager for the next five years.'
"Based on what we've seen, maybe we're jumping the gun a bit because United gets so much more attention. It’s only been two games into the season, but the worrying thing is we’re seeing things we saw last season, and that’s a concern."
"There are no excuses for the manager. He has to start getting results – and quickly, because once we get to October, November, if the results haven't changed drastically, then the real pressure will mount," added Rooney, who is currently the manager of Plymouth.
This week, United faces an away trip to Grimsby in the League Cup on Wednesday, followed by a home league match against Burnley on Saturday. After the international break, however, consecutive clashes with Manchester City and Chelsea await.
