Alex Iwobi: Honourable Minister of Sports Development meets with Super Eagles star following online trolling
Nigeria's Honourable Minister for Sports Development John Owan Enoh met with Alex Iwobi to discuss the recent cyberbullying the Super Eagles star had been experiencing.
Iwobi came under heavy criticism for his performance in the final against Ivory Coast, with many believing Nigeria lost the midfield battle against the Ivorians.

The Minister, however, offered words of support and upliftment to Iwobi, who has since deleted all photos and activities from his social media accounts.
“I am aware of what is happening on social media and as a ministry, this is not the first time we are going to make a statement against bullying.
It’s very nice to see @NigeriaFMYS minister @OwanEnoh give @NGSuperEagles midfielder @alexiwobi some moral support after the horrible social media trolling he has received, after the #TotalEnergiesAFCON2023Final… pic.twitter.com/Ciq2TCHUjX

"This is not just you but our sportsmen and women in general who are exposed to bullying due to the outcome of competitions."
Enoh continued to encourage the Fulham midfielder saying, “You did your best for your country and I am proud of you. The leadership and the rest of the country is proud of you.
“Those who are not are in the far minority and do not speak for the rest of our country, so just be strong.
“You did your best, you are part of a team that brought home a silver medal which the country last won at AFCON 2000, which is 23 years ago. You put in your best, thank you very much.”
