Kamaku, who is a centre referee, and assistants Yiembe, Cheruiyot as well as Mimisa have overseen key matches both at the group stage and in the knockout round during the tournament whose last matches of the Round of 16 will be played on Tuesday night.

For their efforts, the trio are being well compensated not just by tournament organisers Confederation Cup of Football (CAF) but also the host country Morocco.

All referees at AFCON 2025 are guaranteed a lump sum amount that is yet to be revealed but what is certain is a pay of $1,200 (Ksh154,800) for every match officiated at the tournament. This figure is believed not to have been revised from AFCON 2023 despite the increase in prize money.

What Matches Have Kenyan Refs Officiated?

Besides this, host nation Morocco, through the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, is also chipping in as it is catering for travel, accommodation and a daily indemnity of $200 (Ksh25,800) for centre and assistant referees for up to 20 days.

So far, the four match officials have worked on the group stage game between Angola and South Africa, when Kamaku was the fourth official, while Yiembe was one of the assistants as Mimisa manned VAR.

Kamaku was at the centre of the action in another Group B clash pitting Angola and Zimbabwe with Yiembe and Cheruiyot serving as his assistants before the trio teamed up again for the Round of 16 match pitting Cameroon against South Africa on Sunday.

The match officials have so far delivered an incident-free tournament and will hope to continue as the games head to the quarter-final after Tuesday’s matches.
