AFCON 2025: ‘We have tactics’ - Tanzania coach reveals how Taifa Stars will stop Osimhen

Tanzania head coach Manuel Gomandi has declared that his team has concluded their tactical approach to stop Nigeria's attackers when they take on the Super Eagles in their opening Group C match at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The game will be the first time both teams have met since 1980.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference on Monday, Gomandi confirmed that they have a sure tactical approach to stop Victor Osimhen.

He said, “We have a for sure tactical plan to try to neutralize Victor Osimhen, but it's not only him you have a player like Chukwueze, like Lookman like if one is neutralised the other is attacking”

The Argentine coach added that the clash will be a difficult one but they are ready for the challenge.

He added, “We are more than ready for tomorrow’s game. We have a very difficult game, but it’s a nice challenge for us.”

The Tanzania coach emphasised the importance of realism in his tactical approach, noting the depth and quality within the Nigerian team.

“Our mentality is to try to play and attack as well. We need to be tactically disciplined, and there should not be any room for mistakes, because if you don’t avoid such mistakes, the qualities in the Nigerian team can punish you,” he added.
