Chelle guided Nigeria to the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff round and fell short to DR Congo, which is said to be enduring a prolonged period without payment.

BBC sports writer, Oluwashina Okeleji reported that despite the financial dispute, the Malian tactician has not filed any official complaint to the NFF regarding the outstanding wages.

While the delay in payment has raised concerns among observers, Chelle is understood to be maintaining professionalism as he continues his work with the national team.

His commitment comes at a crucial time, with AFCON preparations intensifying and expectations high among Nigerian supporters.

However, the Nigeria Football Federation has not released an official statement addressing the wage backlog.
