AFCON 2025: ‘My favourite striker’ - Eric Chelle has called Osimhen the best in the world

Osimhen has been instrumental for the Super Eagles in recent years, holding down the striker position in the team.

The Galatasaray star is currently leading the Nigerian attack at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

He scored his first goal of the competition in Nigeria’s 3-2 victory over Tunisia on Saturday and also provided an assist in the game.

Chelle has heaped praise on Osimhen during his press conference ahead of the Super Eagles' final group game against Uganda.

According to Safari on X, he said, “Victor Osimhen is the best striker in the world. I wish him lots of goals as my favourite striker. 

“I feel that he is focused, very focused, and I hope this AFCON will be a great AFCON for him.”

Osimhen will be looking to lead the Nigerian team to win the trophy after missing out in 2023 against Ivory Coast.

He is also currently on the verge of reaching Rashidi Yekini’s goal-scoring record, with just five goals in between them.

With the Super Eagles securing a spot in the round of 16 of the AFCON competition, they will aim to finish Group C with a total of nine points when they meet Uganda on Tuesday.
