AFCON 2025: ‘A long journey’ - Eric Chelle unveils Super Eagles challenge in Morocco

What Chelle said
Chelle emphasised that early matches are as much about learning as they are about results, noting that the Super Eagles are still adapting to his ideas.
He said, “This is the beginning of a long journey. We have three critical points, but we must improve tactically and collectively.”
The coach praised his players for their resilience, particularly after Tanzania’s equaliser.
“The reaction was important. When you concede like that, the game can change, but the players stayed focused and showed quality,” he said.
Nigeria is chasing a fourth AFCON title, and the victory over Tanzania provides a solid foundation as they look ahead to their remaining matches.
