Ingwe opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Sofapaka at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, salvaging a point through Boniface Munyendo’s equalizer.

Their second fixture, against Nairobi United, was postponed, leaving them with a 12-day rest period heading into Friday’s clash. That recovery time could prove decisive against a Rangers side brimming with confidence.

Head coach Fred Ambani has urged fans to remain patient as his revamped squad gels. “It’s still early in the season, and we have new players who are yet to fully blend and adapt to our style. With time, they’ll understand each other better. Overall, I believe we have a good team,” Ambani said.

Posta Rangers, under the guidance of Sammy Omollo ‘Pamzo,’ are the early pacesetters after back-to-back wins.

They edged Mathare United 2-1 in their opener before stunning Tusker 2-0, victories that underline their growing credentials as serious contenders. Pamzo credits squad depth and youthful energy for the bright start.

“We have competition for places in the team. I can start with one group and still have strong substitutes who can change the game.

“ We also have younger players this season with a mean age below 25, unlike last year when our average was over 30. That freshness has helped us maintain intensity,” he explained.

Victory for Rangers would consolidate their place at the summit and send a strong signal of intent, while Leopards are keen to capitalize on their extra rest and restore early-season momentum as they chase an elusive league crown after 27 years of waiting.

Kakamega Homeboyz Itch to Capitalize on Napping Sofapaka

Earlier at the same venue, Kakamega Homeboyz and Sofapaka will clash at 1:00 PM in a battle of sides desperate for their first wins.

Homeboyz, who finished third last season under Francis Baraza, were held to a 0-0 draw by Mara Sugar in their opener. Sofapaka, meanwhile, have managed just a single point in two matches and are reeling from last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to champions Gor Mahia. Head coach Ezekiel Akwana has pinpointed inefficiency in the final third as the key area his side must address.

“We need to be more effective in the final third. Retaining the ball better in that area and taking our chances will be crucial,” Akwana said.

With all four teams searching for early momentum, fans at Dandora Stadium can expect an intense doubleheader on Friday.
