Ademola Lookman's teammate set to complete big money move to Saudi Arabia
Saudi Pro League side Al Qadsiah have reportedly reached an agreement for the signing of Atalanta forward Matteo Retegui.
The 26-year-old joined La Dea from Genoa last summer and had an incredible debut season, scoring 25 goals to win the Capocannoniere. He is now set to join the Saudi Pro League, with Atalanta making significant profit.
The numbers involved in the deal
According to Fabrizio Romano, Al Qadsiah reached an agreement with Atalanta for a fee in the region of €67 million, including add-ons for the transfer for Retegui.
The Saudi-based outfit have previously had a €50 million bid turned down by the Italian side. However, they showed intent and returned with an improved bid.
Part of their plans toward signing Retegui included releasing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who scored 17 league goals for them last season, as they communicated to the Gabonese that they wanted a young striker. The parting was reportedly amicable.
Retegui is expected to sign a long-term contract, which will multiply his current €2.8 million base salary by sixfold.
Meanwhile, Atalanta could lose another key member of their forward line this summer, with Ademola Lookman being linked with a move to the likes of Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.
