The Super Eagles star returned to Atalanta training on Tuesday after a turbulent few weeks, though his future at the Serie A club remains highly uncertain.

The forward, who turns 28 in October, had pushed for a move to Inter Milan earlier this summer.

However, when Atalanta rejected Inter’s €45m offer including add-ons, Lookman went on strike and refused to attend training. With negotiations collapsing and Inter withdrawing from talks, he was left with no choice but to return, though he remains exiled from the main squad.

Atalanta have informed Lookman that he can leave but only to a club outside Italy, as they do not wish to strengthen a direct domestic rival.

Meanwhile, According to Graeme Bailey of TBR Football, Arsenal have long been linked with the Super Eagles forward, but no formal bid has been made this summer.

Lookman is coming off a superb season in which he registered 20 goals and seven assists in 40 competitive matches for Atalanta, further underlining his value on the European stage.
