Ademola Lookman: Atletico Madrid heirachy discuss signing Super Eagles star
Atletico Madrid have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Ademola Lookman after sporting director Mateu Alemany held strategic discussions with head coach Diego Simeone over potential reinforcements before the January 2026 transfer deadline, with the Nigerian international emerging as a priority target.
Atletico Madrid's interest
Reports from Tribuna indicate that Atletico hold Lookman in high regard and have been evaluating the possibility of a move in this January transfer window.
Lookman, who has been one of Atalanta’s standout performers since joining from RB Leipzig in August 2022 for €15 million, is pushing to leave Bergamo, having attracted sustained interest from Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray, and several Premier League clubs across multiple windows.
However, Atalanta have consistently maintained a firm stance on his valuation, blocking a move to Inter Milan in summer 2025 and insisting on a fee in excess of €35–40 million before sanctioning any January exit.
While Turkish giants Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray have both made exploratory approaches, with the Yellow Canaries believed to have submitted an unofficial bid, Atalanta have not accepted any bids. Hence, a late push from Atletico Madrid could see them land their man.
