Adamu follows footsteps of Kabiru Dogo, resigns from Wikki Tourists
Wikki Tourists boss Abdullahi Adamu has resigned from his position barely a month after taking over the club's vacant managerial job.
He becomes the second resignation recorded in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Monday, April 10 2023, after Rivers United's assistant manager/chief coach Fatai Osho announced he was leaving the club.
Adamu hands in Wikki Tourists resignation
Following the Bauchi club's 2-1 home defeat to Bayelsa United on Sunday, Adamu submitted his resignation to the Wikki Tourists management citing interference in his responsibilities.
Under his helm as manager (including when he served on an interim basis), Wikki Tourists picked up 11 points from nine matches.
Of these nine, Adamu won only three times against Lobi Stars, Rangers, and Dakkada, drawing with Abia Warriors and Sunshine Stars at home.
"You may recall that since I assumed duty as Technical Adviser, I have not been accorded the opportunity to fully exercise the functions of the office due to management's interference," Adamu said in his letter.
Adamu, Wikki Tourists' second managerial resignation in 2023
Adamu's resignation now makes him the second Wikki Tourists' managerial casualty this season after Kabiru Dogo left the club in January.
While resigning from his position, Dogo also cited similar difficulties as Adamu most-recently did.
The Bauchi club in March promoted the UEFA B licensed personnel to fill in the vacant position of Dogo.
