NPFL Kabiru Dogo resigns from Wikki Tourists

After three defeats and a draw, Dogo was placed on a 'must win' mandate for his next two fixtures against defending champions Rivers United and seven-time champions Rangers.

Kabiru Dogo has handed in his resignation from his position as the head coach of the troubled Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club, Wikki Tourists.

Dogo who had been under fire following Wikki Tourists' poor start to the tendered his resignation letter to the management of the Bauchi-based club on Tuesday afternoon.

Prior to his resignation, Dogo had argued that he was never Wikki Tourists' problem, although, acknowledged that things were not going well with his team.

Dogo highlights his grievances, reasons for resignation

"Please accept this letter as a formal notice of my resignation as Technical/Head Coach of Wikki Tourist effect from 31st of January 2023," Dogo's resignation letter said in part.

“I also wish to state here for a record purpose and for the club, its fans and other stakeholders of the club that at no time was I issued an ultimatum by the club management.

“I only got to learn about such information from social media and other third parties and for this reason, amongst other reasons.”

Dogo also questioned why the club, which claims to have given him two games as a deadline, did not make arrangements for him to attend the first of the two games against Rivers United in Port Harcourt.

Wikki to face Rivers United, Rangers, Abia Warriors next

Week 5 of the 2023 season will see Wikki Tourists travel to Port-Harcourt to face defending champions and Group B leaders Rivers United, at the Adokiye Amiesiamaka Stadium on Wednesday.

After that, Wikki Tourists will then take on struggling Rangers, Abia Warriors and high-flying Lobi Stars in the succeeding three league fixtures.

According to Dogo in an earlier report, “The team’s poor form isn’t a technical-related issue”.
