2023 Netball World Cup: She Cranes Fred Mugerwa to ignite World Cup fever

With 26 days left until the start of the first-ever World Cup on African Soil, preparations are in high gear as the fever pitch continues to build both in the camp and around the country.

"I am not that excited until I am there because you never know," Mugerwa told Pulse Sports before adding.

"As I was excited last time heading to my first World Cup after so many years and was kicked off the list of the team at the last minute."

Fred Mugerwa was infamously sacked from the position of head coach of the She Cranes two weeks before the start of the 2015 World Cup in Sydney.

"Until the day I arrive in South Africa for the tournament is when my excitement will finally come out but not at the moment," Mugerwa added.

The 15-woman squad has been training in Lubowa as they prepare to battle at the World Cup, expecting to do well in a free hit-like tournament.

The She Cranes head into their third consecutive World Cup in Cape Town, currently ranked at number eight globally, and will face Trinidad and Tobago, New Zealand and Singapore in Group D.
