2023 Netball World Cup: Uganda releases Squad

She Cranes coach Fred Mugerwa has finally released the 12 players and three reserves that will be going to the 2023 Netball World Cup in South Africa Cape Town.

The new-look side that goal attacker Irene Eyaru will captain has only goalkeeper Stella Nanfuka and goal shooter Mary Nuba as the only players with World Cup experience.

Other players on the team are Lillian Achola, Margret Bagala, Muhameed Haniisha, Falidah Kodondi, Norah Lunkuse and Christine Nakitto.

Also on the team are Shaffie Nalwanja, Christine Namulumba, Stella Nanfuka, and Shadiah Nassanga.

Viola Asingo, Annet Najjuka, and Sarah Nakiyunga also make the team as reserve players.

Uganda is in Group D alongside New Zealand, Singapore, Trinidad and Tobago at the World Cup that starts on July 28th until August 6th.

Uganda joins South Africa, Malawi and Zimbabwe as the African representatives at the first Netball World Cup to be held on the continent.

Uganda will be making their fourth appearance at the World Cup, having finished 13th, eighth and seventh in 1979, 2015 and 2019, respectively
