Watch William Troost-Ekong score penalty for Al-Kholood against Al-Hilal

William Troost-Ekong, the captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, is back in the headlines because of his accomplishments in the Saudi league.

On Saturday, September 28, 2024, Ekong scored his first goal for Al-Khaloood in a 4-2 home loss to Al-Hilal.

Thanks to goals from Ali Al Bulahyi, Malcolm, and Kalidou Koulibaly, league leaders Al-Hilal led 3-0 at the half.

At the beginning of the second half, Rena Lodi scored a fourth goal for Al Hilal, applying pressure to Ekong's Al-Kholood.

With 19 minutes remaining, Hammam Al Hammami helped Al-Khaloood close the gap.

With three minutes remaining, Troost-Ekong scored from the spot to cut the deficit.

For Paulo Duarte's team this season, the 31-year-old Ekong has made five league appearances.

With four points from five games, AL Kholood are in 12th place on the standings and have only won once in the Saudi premier division this season.

This comes after Ekong helped cage compatriot Odion Ighalo in their win against Al Wehda.

Ekong is expected to return to action when Al-Kholood takes on Al-Khaleej in their next league fixture scheduled for Friday, October 4, 2024.
