Paris Saint-Germain eliminated FC Barcelona from the Champions League quarterfinals on Wednesday night with a 4-1 second-leg victory and an overall score of 5-3 thanks to a brace from Kylian Mbappe at the Montjuic Stadium.

The Catalans had a 3-2 lead going into the game, and even though head coach Xavi Hernandez stated Luis Enrique's team was the favorite to go to the last four, the team seemed assured of making it there for the first time since 2019.

After 13 minutes, Barca's 1-0 lead thanks to a goal from Raphinha who gave them one foot in the semifinal.

Lamine Yamal was outstanding, helping the Brazilian with a one-on-one right-wing dribble, but he eventually had to be replaced when Ronald Araujo was sent off as the half-hour mark approached.

Even with 10 men, Barca managed to hold on without giving up but ultimately lost to their former striker Ousmane Dembele.

Vitinha scored a goal from the edge of the box with plenty of room, giving PSG a 2-1 lead for the game and a 2-2 aggregate result.

On minute sixty-one, Dembele was once again the star of the show after he was taken down in the 18-yard box, allowing Kylian Mbappe to score the ensuing spot kick.

“The whistles from Barça fans? It’s normal in every football stadium”.

After defeating the La Liga heavyweights, PSG will now play Borussia Dortmund to go to this season's Wembley final on June 1.

As for Barcelona, the focus now shifts to trying to salvage a point against fierce rivals Real Madrid in Sunday's El Clasico, which looks to be Mbappe's next destination.
