Okocha under fire for comments in Kenya
At the event in Kenya, Okocha made comments that have riled up Nigerian football fans.
Okocha said that he prefers to watch European football than a live Nigerian football league because of the professionalism, presentation, and quality of the games.
Speaking to Kenyan-based, Capital Sports, he said, “I don’t think I’d watch the Nigerian league if there is a Premier League match on the television, that is if I am being honest, because the Premier League is more attractive.
“We need to go back to the drawing board and give ourselves time and put something together that will make our leagues attractive."
The statement by Okocha did not go down well with Nigerian football fans on social media.
They expressed their dissatisfaction stating that he was brought up through the Nigerian professional league system before heading to Europe for a glorious career.
