The streets of Ankara were painted red and black as Gençlerbirliği SK celebrated their hard-fought promotion to the Turkish Süper Lig, the country’s top football division.
At the heart of the festivities was Nigerian midfielder Peter Etebo, whose contributions on and off the pitch have been instrumental in the club’s triumphant return to the elite level of Turkish football.

Along with the post was a message that said, "I congratulate all my teammates, the technical team and especially the amazing supporters of the Youth Union. Finally we made it to the super league"
The post which featured the team lifting the championship trophy amidst a sea of red and black confetti.
Etebo, who joined Gençlerbirliği on loan in the 2024-2025 season, has been a key figure in the team’s midfield.
The 29-year-old Nigerian international, known for his stints with clubs like Stoke City and Galatasaray, was seen beaming with pride in the celebratory image, surrounded by his teammates and coaching staff.
His tireless work rate and leadership qualities have endeared him to the Gençlerbirliği faithful, who see him as a cornerstone of their promotion campaign.
This promotion, however, marks a significant milestone, as Gençlerbirliği return to the top flight with renewed ambition and a squad brimming with talent.
For Etebo, this achievement adds another chapter to his illustrious career, Having represented Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations.
