Philip Solomon: 17-year-old Nigerian student breaks Guinness World Record

Philip Solomon is among the Nigerian sports stars who hold Guinness World Records.

The Guinness World Record holder for the most skips on one foot in 30 seconds is Philip Solomon, a 17-year-old student at Oyemekun Grammar School in Akure, Ondo State.

On January 24, Solomon officially surpassed the previous record holder, Rasel Islam of Bangladesh, who had set a time of 145 skips in one foot in 30 seconds.

Most skips in 30 seconds on one foot

Guinness World Records officially confirmed the records on their website on Tuesday, four months after his attempt.

The organisation said that they confirmed the records after seeing the video, and Philip was honoured to attend a skipping world championship.

According to Guinness World Records, 

T"he most skips in 30 seconds on one foot is 153, and was achieved by Philip Solomon (Nigeria), in Akure, Nigeria, on January 24, 2023.

"Philip was inspired by the previous holder of this record title, Rasel Islam, after seeing a video of their record attempt. He has been training to achieve the record and was honoured to attend a skipping world championship."

The teenager joined his Ijapo High school, Akure counterpart, Gbenga Ezekiel to hold a record in skipping.

Ezekiel, who was in February named the world record holder for the most number of skips on one leg in a minute (265 skips), has added another Guinness World Record for rope skipping, bringing Nigeria's total to two.
