The seven-time world champion took to social media to show fans a tease of how much he's been preparing ahead of the new Formula 1 season.

Lewis Hamilton returned to the gym as he looks to try and challenge reigning world champion and Red Bull driver Max Verstappen.

The 38-year-old Mercedes driver shared a recent snap to his Instagram story, as he posed topless in the gym, while showing off his ripped abs and tattoos.

Hamilton has been known to stir up changes in the F1 division whenever he posts many refer to as a "thirst trap".

Last season, fellow drivers Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo and Nicholas Latifi all saw their F1 seats taken away within days of Hamilton posting a gym pic.

Hamilton warned of new rival ahead of F1 season

The Mercedes driver is set to renew his rivalry with Red Bull and F1 world champion Max Verstappen.

Hamilton is currently tied on seven world championships alongside F1 legend Michael Schumacher and came close to an eighth title in 2021 after a controversial end to the season which saw Max Verstappen pick up his first world title.

With both drivers expected to slug it out once more ahead of the new season, a new rival might be lurking ahead of this year’s campaign.

Former F1 star Felipe Massa, who spent eight seasons with Ferrari between 2006 and 2013, believes that the current duo of Leclerc and Sainz can mount a challenge for the world championship this season.

He told Gazzetta dello Sport: "I really like them.

"Leclerc and Sainz are title contenders. Ferrari's problem is certainly not the drivers. Charles has shown that he knows how to win with the car up to the mark.

"Last year he paid the price, as did the whole team, after a start in the championship that had him leading the standings and then they lost all the advantage in a few races."

However, Leclerc saw his championship bid start to crumble at the Spanish Grand Prix, and despite qualifying on pole he was forced to retire his Ferrari with engine issues.

The Ferrari driver finished fourth at the Monaco Grand Prix last year, just nine points behind Verstappen going into the eighth round in Azerbaijan.

However, Leclerc's car issues forced him out of the race with power unit issues as Verstappen stormed to his second world title.
