Super Eagles star Raphael Onyedika has claimed that his team can still do the unexpected after losing at home to Aston Villa in the UEFA Champions League.

Aston Villa defeated Club Brugge 3-1 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16.

Raphael Onyedika returned from a minor injury at Jan Breydelstadion, playing for the Belgian champions.

The Nigeria international missed the trip to KAA Gent last weekend due to a thigh injury he suffered in a league match against Standard Liege on February 23.

Onyedika speaks on second-leg chances

Onyedika acknowledged that conceding two late goals had put Club Brugge in a difficult position, but he refused to dismiss their chances of qualifying.

He said to UEFA's official website, "It was a tough conclusion for us. The result was heading in the right direction, so it was tough for us at the end.

"In this competition, you have to be at your best. You have to be ready, every action, every match. We've been working for this for months. We play our game and we did our best.

"Today's result makes it difficult for us. But never say never. We have to believe in it. You never know what can happen."

Aston Villa will take on Club Brugge at Villa Park on Wednesday, March 12th. Club Brugge will be looking to overcome a two-goal deficit from the first leg.
