Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche has heaped extraordinary praise on his international teammate Benjamin Fredrick following his impressive performance during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Fredrick, who recently earned his first cap for Nigeria during the Unity Cup in June, has quickly become a key figure in the national team setup under coach Eric Chelle. 

His performances have cemented his place as a defensive mainstay for the Super Eagles team under Chelle.

Following his performance, Christantus has heaped praise on him, rating him above the likes of William Troost-Ekong and Calvin Bassey.

Crystal Palace's Uche, in a post on his Instagram account, shared a picture of Fredrick with the caption, "You don't have anything to tell me, my best centre-back in the world."

Benjamin Fredrick's emergence is timely for Nigeria, which has faced challenges with depth and form in central defence. 

During the recent international break, the 20-year-old demonstrated his versatility by filling in at right-back due to the absence of Ola Aina and Bright Osayi-Samuel. 

Despite playing out of his natural position, Fredrick delivered a standout performance that drew admiration.

With veterans like William Troost-Ekong and Semi Ajayi ageing and delivering less convincing performances, Fredrick and Fulham's Calvin Bassey are seen as the future of the backline.

If he maintains his current trajectory, he is poised to become one of Nigeria's most dependable players for years to come.
