You deserve it — Aguero congratulates potential Ballon d'Or winner

Former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has thrown his support behind former teammate Rodri to win the prestigious 2024 Ballon d'Or award.

Rodri, alongside Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham, are considered frontrunners for the prize after a stellar 2023-24 season.

Aguero took to social media platform X to write; "A perfect year, you deserve it. Come on Rodri.”

His tweet came in response to Manchester City's post announcing Rodri's nomination for the award, which will be presented next month.

The 30-man shortlist was unveiled earlier this week, featuring some of the biggest names in football, including Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham. However, Aguero believes Rodri stands out from the rest.

Rodri had an incredible year, playing a vital role in Manchester City's record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title win in May.

He also helped Spain claim Euro 2024 glory, solidifying his position as one of the top midfielders in the world.

It's worth noting that the current Ballon d'Or holder is Lionel Messi, who has won the award a record-breaking eight times and it will be interesting to see if Rodri can indeed follow in his footsteps.
