‘We knew we had to get the job done’ - Arsenal star Saka pleased to get the second goal of the game
Arsenal's unbeaten run now stands at 18 matches, thanks to goals from Bukayo Saka and Mikel Merino, which sealed a 2-0 victory.
The Gunners took an early lead when Mikel Merino headed in a cross from Ben White in the 11th minute of the game.
Bukayo Saka sealed the three points in stoppage time after Brentford keeper Caoimhin Kelleher parried his initial shot, but the ball looped over the line before it could be cleared.
The tough win was a huge result, extending the team's lead at the top of the league to five points.
What Saka said after the win
Speaking after the game, Saka revealed that the team needed the second goal to finish off the match.
"We knew we had to get the job done and we did it, so we are happy," Saka commented after the match. "I felt we controlled the game really well. We were looking for the second goal, which we got in the end."
Brentford manager Keith Andrews expressed disappointment with his team's inability to convert their chances.
"I wanted us to have a good go and we certainly did that," he said. "We could and should have scored from set pieces."
The Gunners will now face Aston Villa in an early kick-off on Saturday, despite playing Brentford on Wednesday night.
They will look to extend their unbeaten run in all competitions as they continue their chase for the Premier League title.
