Why Victor Osimhen was hooked at half-time against DR Congo
The Super Eagles' hope of advancing past DR Congo has taken a significant hit as Victor Osimhen has been replaced at half-time.
The 26-year-old scored a hat-trick to help Nigeria clinch qualification for the play-offs and a brace in the semi-final against Gabon to book a place in the final.
The Galatasaray man struggled in the first 45 minutes against the Leopards' physical defenders and was replaced at half-time for Akor Adams.
Osimhen limps off the pitch
The reason behind the substitution was initially a mystery, as it was unclear whether Osimehn Eric Chelle made a bold tactical call, having witnessed the striker’s struggles, or if it was due to an injury.

However, a clip from half-time shared by Turkish outlet Le Marca Spors showed the Galatasaray man limp off the pitch, visibly struggling from an injury.
Osimhen's injury has hampered Nigeria’s chances and has also led to panic among Galatasaray fans, who worry about the impact of the €75 million signing’s absence on their fortunes this season.
