Karagumruk's hopes were further undermined minutes later when defender Tressor received a red card following a VAR review for a reckless challenge on Davinson Sanchez, reducing the visitors to 10 men.
After the break, Osimhen was introduced in the 61st minute as a substitute for Mario Lemina.
The Nigerian forward immediately got involved in the game, even slotting the ball into the net, although the goal was ruled out for offside.
This appearance was Osimhen's first game for Galatasaray since his record-breaking permanent transfer from SSC Napoli, a deal that made him the most expensive signing in Turkish football history.
Despite his eagerness to impress and score, including an offside goal, Galatasaray doubled their advantage in the 74th minute through an own goal by Karagumruk, before the game was sealed by incoming substitute Mauro Icardi.
As reported by Galatasaray on X, after 281 days sidelined by injury, Icardi made a triumphant return, expertly finishing a chance created by Lucas Torreira following a regained possession in the final third.
Osimhen’s entry off the bench and his immediate impact underline his importance to Galatasaray as they aim to defend their Turkish Super Lig title and make an impact in Europe this season.
The Nigerian goal machine is warming up nicely for what promises to be a prolific campaign ahead.
