UEFA celebrate Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman, other hat-trick heroes

The UEFA Europa League have paid homage to Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman and other stars who scored hat-tricks during the 2023/24 season of the competition in a post on social media.

Super Eagles striker Lookman was on hand to score a remarkable hat-trick in the Europa League final to help Atalanta claim their first-ever European title and their first major honours since 1963 in a dominant victory over Bayer Leverkusen.

Thanks to his decisive treble, the 26-year-old Nigerian star became one of only five players to have scored a hat-trick in the 2022/24 Europa League campaign, and only the second player to achieve this in the knockout rounds.

The Europa League saluted Lookman and other hat-trick heroes in a series of posts on social media platform X, celebrating the excellence in front of goal of some of the competition’s top performers.

In addition to Lookman, former Arsenal and Barcelona forward Pierre Emerick Aubameyang also received a mention for his treble against Ajax, while Michael Gregoritsc, Vincenzo Grifo, and Benjamin Bourigeaud were also recognised.
