Liverpool boss Juergen Klopp has told any Liverpool player having doubts about staying at Anfield due to their failure to qualify for the Champions League next season that they can leave.

After Mohamed Salah’s recent tweet suggesting his deep anger and frustration with the lack of Champions League football next season, the rumour mill went into overdrive regarding the Egyptian’s Liverpool future.

Jurgen Klopp dismissed the idea of his talisman leaving this summer, by insisting “Mo loves this club”.

Nevertheless, the Liverpool manager has made it clear that if any player has doubts about staying at Anfield after failing to qualify for the Champions League, he will drive them to a new club himself.

Klopp speaking before Liverpool’s final Premier League game of the season, spoke bluntly about potential exits.

Klopp said: “If ever a player would come to me, and said: ‘oh we didn’t qualify for the Champions League, I have to leave, I would drive him to the other club myself.

“That would be something I never could understand. It is like I would say (he puts on a childish voice for emphasis) ‘oh we didn’t qualify for the Champions League, I need to work in the Champions League so I go’.”

Liverpool conclude their 2022-23 season against Southampton on Sunday.
