Trent Alexander-Arnold stuns Liverpool: Reds confirm right-back has dumped the club

Trent Alexander-Arnold has decided to end his 20-year-old romance with Premier League champions Liverpool.

In a bombshell announcement, Liverpool FC confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold, their homegrown superstar, will leave the club when his contract expires on June 30, 2025, ending a remarkable 20-year journey with the Reds.

The 26-year-old right-back is widely expected to join Real Madrid as a free agent, with sources in Spain revealing a proposed six-year deal set to be finalised in the coming weeks.

Liverpool’s official statement read: “The 26-year-old will bring his two-decade-long association with the Reds to an end, having made the decision to depart Anfield once his deal ceases on June 30, 2025.”

The news will come as a shock to fans of the newly crowned Champions who were hoping that the talented defender will join icons Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk to commit to the club.

Alexander-Arnold’s story with Liverpool is the stuff of legend. Joining the club’s academy at just six years old, he rose through the ranks to make his senior debut in 2016.

Since then, he’s racked up 352 appearances, scored 23 goals, and provided countless assists with his world-class vision and pinpoint passing.

Speaking emotionally about his decision, Alexander-Arnold said: “First and foremost, I want to say it’s not an easy decision, and there’s a lot of thought and feeling that has gone into it. I’ve been here 20 years now, loved every single minute of it, achieved all my dreams, everything I’ve ever wanted to here.”
