Alexander Isak has completed a sensational £125 million (£130 million including add-ons) move to Liverpool from Newcastle, which effectively made him the most expensive transfer in British football history, but where does he rank in global transfer rankings?

Isak to walk the path of the greats

The 25-year-old’s work action yielded success and he forced a move to Liverpool, joining the Reds on deadline day after a protracted summer transfer saga. He completed his medical tonight and penned a six-year deal which effectively keeps him at the club until 2031.

He expressed his desire to create history at the club, and will be claiming the Reds' historic number “9” previously donned by the likes of Fernando Torres, Robbie Fowler, Roberto Firmino, Kenny Dalglish, El Hadj Diouf, Ian Rush, etc.

Isak is Liverpool's club record signing, shattering the £100 million spent on Florian Wirtz earlier in the window. Virgil Van Dijk previously held the title through his £75 million move. Allison and Darwin Nunez make up the rest of the top five.
