Sporting CP has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur has triggered the purchase clause of Pedro Porro on a permanent basis.

The option to buy fee is said to be the €40 million (£39m) which was included in his loan deal in January.

The wingback first signed on with the team in north London on loan in January, with the possibility of a permanent transfer.

Under four different managers, he made 17 appearances for Spurs, where he contributed three goals and three assists.

Tottenham’s agreement with Sporting

During the loan deal negotiation between Tottenham and Sporting CP, some clauses were agreed upon between both parties as reported.

According to Football London's report, "Following the agreement concluded on January 31, 2023, between Sporting SAD and Tottenham Hotspur for the temporary surrender of Pedro Porro, for the amount of €5million, Tottenham informed Sporting SAD of the exercise of the acquisition action of the player's sports right, for the additional amount of €40 million.

"The value of the solidarity mechanism due to third-party cubes will be supported in about 95% for Tottenham, leaving the remaining 5% in charge of Sporting SAD."

Porro has now made a permanent move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, according to Sporting CP who confirmed that Spurs have triggered Porro’s option to buy fee.

Ange Postecoglou a fan of Porro

It was reported last week that Tottenham's new manager Ange Postecoglou is a huge fan of the Spanish left-back.

Ange Postecoglou, the new head coach, is reportedly a fan of Porro, according to reports from Football London.

After making it quite obvious that he intended to stay in the Premier League, Porro received the go-ahead from his club.

He said in quotes published on Sport Witness from an interview with Spanish media outlet AS, "It was a giant step, in the end, I've been fighting for it all my life and it's something very big.

"And I don’t want to wake up from this dream, it is undoubtedly one of the best leagues in the world if not the best, and being there every day is a gift for me for all the work I have been doing since I was little in my land."

Pedro Porro is set to become Tottenham’s fourth signing of the season as they prepare ahead of the new season.
