What Ustari said
The goalkeeper made a stunning eight saves throughout the match, including denying the Africans from 12 yards in the first.
However, in his post-match reaction with FIFA, the goalkeeper was quick to share the moment with his teammates, noting that it’s not a one-man show.
“This is more about the team than about being a hero,” Ustari said modestly after the game.
“You always have to have confidence in yourself. In the penalty situation, there are people behind me (in the coaching staff) who are always helping us. I represent them on the pitch, but the work they do with us off the field is crucial for moments like this to happen.”
His words stress the collective effort behind his standout performance and the vital role of preparation and support from the coaching staff.
Experience and leadership at the forefront
At 38, Ustari’s experience proved invaluable in the high-pressure environment of the Club World Cup.
His calmness and leadership helped Inter Miami withstand Al Ahly’s relentless attacks while keeping Inter in the game despite Lionel Messi’s near-winning chances.
Ustari’s message reflects a focus on unity and teamwork, emphasising that success in such tournaments is built on shared effort rather than individual heroics.
