The worst team in history — Amorim makes damning statement about Man United squad after Brighton defeat
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim made some damning comments after his team's abysmal showing in their 3-1 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.
Manchester United lose again
The Red Devils were coming off the back of a sensational FA Cup triumph over Arsenal and a comeback victory over Southampton; hence, Old Trafford faithful had high hopes when they hosted the Seagulls this afternoon.
The visitors sunk their hosts into despair within five minutes after a Yankuba Minteh strike. The Red Devils restored control, and in the 23rd minute, Bruno Fernandes restored parity through the penalty spot.
Kaoru Mitoma restored Brighton's lead on the hour mark before Georginio Rutter confirmed the result in the 76th minute. The hosts had a late flurry of attacks but could not muster a comeback.
What Amorim said
After the match, the Portuguese tactician said, “We are being the worst team maybe in the history of Man United; we have to acknowledge that.”
"It was similar to other games; we suffered some goals that we shouldn't suffer. Then it's hard to have possession because we are anxious.
"We scored the equaliser but the second half was the same thing. When we suffer goals like that then it's hard to turn around.
"We have to understand the moment but understand it's not acceptable for Manchester United to lose this many Premier League games. I don't know why.
"We need to be better, that is really clear, It doesn't matter if we have a lot of time to train or if I know the players, it's not acceptable. We continue to work to change details that change the game."
