That is the idea — New Atalanta boss Juric makes Ademola Lookman transfer admission
The future of Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman has been a hot topic in recent weeks, with his contract at Atalanta running out in the summer of 2026.
The Serie A giants are open to a sale, and Lookman has reportedly also been keen on an exit, after establishing himself as one of Europe's elite players.
What next for Ademola Lookman?
There are strong links to Barcelona, with the Blaugrana boss Hansi Flick reportedly personally requesting the Nigerian, but no official offers have been made.
Speaking at his unveiling as new Atalanta boss, replacing Gian Piero Gasperini, Ivan Juric touched on the subject of Lookman's future at the club.
The former Torino coach emphasized the need for squad stability, particularly highlighting Lookman and Brazilian midfielder Ederson as key figures he hopes to retain.
“It will be tough in the league, there will be fierce competitors,” Juric said during his introductory press conference, as reported by Calcio Napoli.
“The idea would be to keep both Lookman and Ederson, even if the club has clear ideas on the market and I have not made any request on players, not even on those I have had.”
While Lookman could play into his final year and leave on a free transfer next summer, the prospect of that outcome remains highly unlikely, and the best move for both parties appears to be an exit this summer.
It has been a fruitful marriage between both parties, especially over the last 2 seasons, as Lookman elevated his game to becoming Africa's best player, while playing a huge role in delivering Atalanta's first-ever European trophy.
