Sadiq Umar, who had a disappointing season at Real Sociedad has been on the news with the club looking to cash in on him.
Real Sociedad signed the Nigerian international from Almeria last summer for a club-record deal worth €20 million.
However, the forward was unable to impress, scoring only three goals and providing one assist in 26 appearances in Laliga
Sadiq Umar in trouble
Sadiq caused a controversy that could lead to him being punished by the club after his cryptic post on his social media page.
The Super Eagles star shared the picture of a middle finger on Instagram, which generally means “f*** you”.
The reason behind Sadiq’s cryptic message is still unknown, however, it could be a message to Real Sociedad after he was told he was not needed anymore.
However, a few minutes later, Sadiq removed the first post and uploaded a new one in which he expressed regret and clarified that it was not directed towards anyone in particular.
Sadiq wrote, “Apologies on my recent post, it was a post by mistake. I didn’t do it intentionally. I am not referring to something or against anyone. Thanks for your understanding, you all should stay blessed.”
Real Sociedad has not yet responded to the message, but if it was directed at them, it would worsen an already tense relationship.
Sadiq is rumoured to be leaving Real Sociedad this summer, and Getafe is thought to be his likely destination.
