Super Eagles: Bruno Onyemaechi powers Olympiacos to Greek Cup triumph over OFI

Olympiacos FC capped off a historic 2024–25 season by securing the Greek Cup title with a 2-0 victory over OFI in the final.

The result means completing a domestic double after their earlier Greek Super League triumph.

Nigerian defender Bruno Onyemaechi played a pivotal role in the latter stages of the match, contributing to a hard-fought win that underscored Olympiacos’ dominance in Greek football.

The final, held at Athens’ Olympic Stadium, saw Olympiacos take an early lead through their prolific Moroccan striker, Ayoub El Kaabi.

El Kaabi put Olympiacos in front as early as the ninth minute, capitalizing on a well-orchestrated move.

That was the only goal of the first half as Olympiacos went to the break ahead.

Onyemaechi, who has been a revelation since joining the club from Boavista in January 2025, immediately brought fresh energy to the left flank, helping to shore up the defense and maintain Olympiacos’ lead.

The decisive moment came in additional time when El Kaabi turned provider, setting up Roman Yaremchuk to score the winner.
