If Antonio Conte wants to win a second successive Scudetto at Napoli, former manager Bortolo Mutti has a simple message: go and get Ademola Lookman.

The ex-Napoli and Atalanta boss believes the Nigerian winger could be the golden ticket to extending Napoli’s dominance in Serie A.

Lookman the missing piece in Conte’s Scudetto puzzle

After claiming the Serie A title in Conte’s first season, Napoli are eager to mount a worthy title defence, and with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia now in Paris, Conte needs a new creative spark.

Lookman has been lighting up Serie A with Atalanta, delivering 20 goals and seven assists last season, immediately after helping them clinch their first-ever Europa League crown.

Mutti, who has coached both clubs, thinks this transfer is not just smart, it’s title-defining. “If Napoli takes Lookman and also Lucca, then they would win the championship again,” he said.

Convincing Atalanta to part ways with their prized asset will not be easy, especially to a direct Serie A rival.

Club president Antonio Percassi has no financial pressure to sell, and Atalanta reportedly want at least €60 million.

But Napoli are trying to drive that price closer to €50 million, and Mutti admits he hopes Lookman stays in Bergamo, calling him “a fundamental piece for Atalanta”, but concedes the winger’s quality is transferable anywhere.

Whether he stays or goes, Lookman’s stock is rising fast, and Conte’s eyes are firmly locked on the Nigerian ace to spearhead his title defence in Naples.
