Set-piece merchants strikes again, with Gyokeres scoring a brace in Leeds' thrashing

Arsenal secured a comfortable victory at the Emirates Stadium after thrashing Leeds United to claim their second win of the season.

The Gunners completed the signing of Eberechi Eze after announcing on their social media pages. The Crystal Palace star was unveiled to the fans after signing his contract before the start of the game against Leeds.

The stadium erupted in a noise of cheers and applause as Eze made his long-awaited appearance on the pitch. 

The fans, already buzzing with excitement, were then treated to an even greater spectacle as Arsenal delivered a dominant performance, securing a resounding 5-0 victory over Leeds United.

As it happened

Mikel Arteta made two changes from the team that beat Manchester United, with Noni Madueke and Jurrien Timber coming into the starting lineup. 15-year-old Max Dowman was also named on the bench.

Leeds made one change from the team that beat Everton in their first Premier League game of the season. Ethan Ampadu was out after an injury against the Toffees; Ilia Gruev came in.

Arsenal started the game by controlling the proceedings and dictating the tempo of the game, but Leeds were the ones with the first attempt of the game, which David Raya made a remarkable save from.

In the 34th minute, Arteta’s men got the opening goal from a corner kick after a decent ball in from Declan Rice found Timber’s head and into the bottom corner. Then, just before the half-time break, Bukayo Saka scored a rocket from the edge of the box to double the lead.

In the second half, Arsenal scored two quick goals from Victor Gyökeres and Timber to make it four goals in the game.

In injury time, substitute Max Dowman, who made his Premier League debut at 15 years, becoming the second youngest player in the league, was brought down in the box. The Swedish masked man took the penalty with fury to make it five for the home side.

The final whistle was met with a loud cheer from the fans after the Gunners got five goals past Leeds.
