‘Same breath as Kante’ - Mikel Obi claims Caicedo is on the same level as Chelsea legend
Caicedo has been an important player for Chelsea since moving to the club from Brighton for a massive fee.
The Ecuadorian international helped his team seal a 2-1 victory over Liverpool last Saturday in the Premier League.
His first-half strike, beating the goalkeeper from outside the box, gave the Blues the lead before Willian Estevao sealed the win in injury time.
Mikel Obi on Caicedo
When asked to compare Caicedo to another Chelsea icon, N'Golo Kante, Mikel acknowledged the difficulty of the choice.
"Same breath as Kante? N'Golo was a different animal," he reflected, while speaking on the Obi One Podcast.
"I love both of them. N'Golo was just too quick, too good, could get his way out of any situation because he was too fast and he can run all day and night, but Caicedo can do that as well.
“I think both are pretty much equal. If I had to choose, it's a tough pick," Mikel, concluding his take on Caicedo and Kante.
The midfielder has now scored three goals in his first seven league games, beating his goal tally since joining the Blues.
Chelsea will be looking to build on their impressive win against Liverpool when they return from the international break to face Nottingham Forest.
