On a day that was meant to be all about the Reds’ remarkable triumph under Arne Slot, Palace came into town attempting to spoil the party.

However, just like he has done all season, Mohammed Salah stepped up to salvage the occasion.

As it happened

Liverpool started on the front foot, looking far more threatening. However, it was Palace that drew the first blood as the Eagles cut the Reds open after a Connor Bradley loose pass that Mitchell intercepted. The wingback treaded the ball to Ismaila Sarr who slotted the ball past Allison in goal for Liverpool.

The hosts got close on several occasions but the biggest highlight of the first half from then on was Alexander-Arnold’s warm reception during warm up.

The Real Madrid-bound right back was introduced at the start of the second half in his final game for his boyhood club. Things only became worse for the Reds who saw Ryan Gravenberch sent off for a last-man foul in the 67th minute.

However, just like he has done all season, Salah stepped up to poke home an equalizer.

It was his 47th goal involvement of the Premier League season, equaling Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole, who jointly held the record.
