Liverpool's Mohamed Salah has the chance to surpass Premier League legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry
Mohamed Salah is on the verge of etching his name even deeper into Premier League folklore with yet another award to his name.
After an explosive campaign for Liverpool, the Egyptian superstar is eyeing a third PFA Players’ Player of the Year award, something only legends dream of, and none have achieved.
Salah chasing third crown to surpass elite names
Having already secured both the Premier League Player of the Season and the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year awards, Salah now has his sights on the most prestigious of them all: the PFA Players’ Player of the Year.
)
Salah is no stranger to the honour, having claimed it in 2018 and 2022. A third award would elevate him above icons like Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Alan Shearer, and Gareth Bale, all of whom stopped at two.
)
Salah’s 2024/25 campaign was jaw-dropping. 29 goals and 18 assists across all competitions powered Liverpool to a Premier League title under Arne Slot.
Stacked shortlist features Palmer, Fernandes, and Isak
Salah is not alone in the race. Alexis Mac Allister, his Liverpool teammate, is also on the shortlist after a strong season in midfield, featuring in 35 league matches.
)
The shortlist also includes Cole Palmer, whose electric first half of the season for Chelsea turned heads, and Bruno Fernandes, one of the few bright spots in a dismal Manchester United campaign.
Declan Rice flies the flag for Arsenal alone, while Newcastle’s Alexander Isak’s 27-goal season earns him a deserved nod.

With no Manchester City player making the cut this time, all eyes turn to August 19 when the winner will be revealed.
