Egyptian star Mohamed Salah has re-entered the Ballon d'Or conversation

Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah has taken a major step towards winning the Ballon d'Or after being named the FWA Player of the Year.

After a spectacular season in the Premier League, Salah was rightly crowned the best player in England by the prestigious Football Writers' Association.

Salah equals Henry after FWA award win

Salah's latest accolade sees him join an exclusive club, as he becomes only the second player in history to win the Football Writers’ Association award three times, matching the legendary Thierry Henry.

His 28 goals and 18 assists in the Premier League this season have made him a key part of Liverpool’s success under new manager Arne Slot, with Salah featuring in every league match this term.

The Egyptian maestro is on the verge of equalling the record for the most goal involvements in a single Premier League campaign, currently sitting on 46, just one behind the long-standing joint record held by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole in 42-game seasons.

With the Golden Boot virtually secured for the fourth time in his career, Salah's output is arguably at an all-time high.

Ballon d'Or momentum shifts in Salah’s favour

This FWA honour may just be the beginning. Salah is widely expected to add the PFA Player of the Year and the Premier League Player of the Year awards to his trophy cabinet before the summer.

These domestic triumphs, combined with Liverpool’s league success, strengthen his Ballon d'Or bid significantly.

With rivals like Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Ousmane Dembélé also in the conversation, Salah’s case is now bolstered by silverware, stunning goal and assist numbers, and individual honours, making the road to the Ballon d'Or ceremony look more promising than ever.
