The picks
Bruno Fernandes led the way in the video shared on X by United Faithfuls. The Portuguese revealed that Ronaldinho was his first football idol, but that changed to his compatriot, Ronaldo, when he became older. Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee also picked the former Barcelona number 10.
Despite being associated with Cristiano for a good part of his senior career, partly because he adopted multiple Ronaldo-trademarked celebrations, Alejandro Garnacho was diplomatic with his response, picking the Portuguese, his national team captain, Messi, and Neymar.
Rasmus Hojlund and Matthijs De Ligt also picked Cristiano, while Amad Diallo and Uruguayan destroyer Manuel Ugarte were team Messi. Patrick Dorgu picked Eden Hazard, while Andre Onana and Luke Shaw made position-relevant selections, naming Robin Van Der Sar and Ashley Cole, respectively.
Noussair Mazraoui picked a legend of fellow Arabian-African ancestry in Zinedine Zidane. Christian Eriksen made the niche selection of Francesco Totti, while Leny Yoro, revealing he used to be a winger, said he idolised Nani.
