Super Eagles forward VIctor Osimhen has been linked to a move away from Napoli this summer, but Partenopei president Aurelio de Laurentiis has ruled out a number of teams from signing the Nigerian

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has confirmed that the club’s asking price for Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen means that only one club can realistically sign the forward this summer.

Osimhen attracting interest from top European clubs

Osimhen has been a revelation since joining the Partenopei in 2021 and enjoyed the best season of his career in the last campaign.

The Super Eagles striker scored 31 goals in 39 appearances in all competitions in the 2022/23 season as Napoli claimed their first Serie A title since the 1989/90 season.

The 24-year-old striker’s inspired form has invited interest from some of Europe’s biggest teams as Chelsea, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich have all been linked with the Super Eagles forward.

Osimhen can only leave to PSG this summer

Despite the interest, Napoli president de Laurentiis has noted that it would be impossible for any of those teams to sign Osimhen this summer.

De Laurentiis claimed that only French side Paris Saint-Germain are financially equipped to sign the Super Eagles forward as only the Ligue 1 champions can afford Napoli’s €180 million price tag for their star player.

The club administrator told Mediaset: The only club that could afford Victor Osimhen is Paris Saint-Germain.

“If Nasser Al Khelaifi wants to send in a bid around €200m, we wait and we see what happens,” de Laurentiis said

Given the situation, de Laurentiis remains confident that Osimhen will be at the club at the start of next season, saying, “I personally think that Victor will stay here.”

Bayern Munich have turned their attention to Tottenham captain Harry Kane, while Manchester United are on the trail of Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund after giving up on Osimhen.
