Report: Chelsea reignite interest in Osimhen amid recent form

Premier League giants Chelsea have reportedly back in the race for Victor Osimhen.

Chelsea have reportedly reignited their interest in Victor Osimhen amid reports that Galatasaray have slapped a price tag on the Nigerian to deter top European clubs.

Chelsea's interest in Osimhen

Chelsea’s interest in Victor Osimhen dates back to the summer window of 2024, when the Blues explored a move while he was under contract at Napoli.

While the Nigerian was keen, Chelsea tabled a fairly modest wage package, rumoured to be around €4 million guaranteed and another €4 million in add-ons, which Osimhen rejected.

He joined Galatasaray on a loan deal, and this summer they completed a permanent deal for a Turkish record signing, worth €75 million, with a reported guaranteed take-home of €21 million per season on a four-year contract.

Victor Osimhen was the man of the match against Ajax.

Chelsea interested rekindled

Osimhen has been in exceptional form for club and country this season. His hat-trick against the Benin Republic helped the Super Eagles qualify for the World Cup play-offs. His goals in three consecutive matches positioned Galatasaray to make the knockout stage of this season’s Champions League. Hence, top clubs are paying attention to his situation.

Barcelona are one such club, as Pulse Sports reported, and lately, Chelsea have entered the equation, according to Türkiye Today

While he only recently signed permanently, Galatasaray will not block an exit, according to reports, and have since placed a €150 million valuation on Osimhen for any potential sale.

However, it is believed that Cim-Bom prefer not to sell; hence, that is the figure presented as the club’s defence of their new asset rather than an independently agreed release clause.

Chelsea's need for Osimhen

The Blues might be willing to revisit the chase because their summer signings, notably Liam Delap (sidelined and struggling for consistent impact after injury) and João Pedro (patchy form and a brief drought), have not yet completely settled as a guaranteed long-term striking solution.

Those squad issues are the pragmatic reason Chelsea are reported to have Osimhen back on the radar, even though wage demands and Galatasaray’s lofty valuation make a deal challenging.
